I wonder whether the seemingly easy battles Ash has is because he is just strong enough to be in the top 100 and had to fight up the rankings or is this how the whole series will be.

Plus 1v1 battle is not really what should decide the ranking.

Wait, what happened with the celebi kid? I thought that would be a two part episode or something. They just met? I thought the kid died and Celebi would bring younger Kid to meet Go or something T^T

Umm... there have been episodes where death has been slightly touched upon. In the first season with the ghastle waiting for their trainer to return, and in XYZ that one doggo. Lavender town with Cubone..... But I guess, he became a regular as Go's friend so yeah, he won't be killed anymore. He's been given plot armor for the rest of the series.
